What valentine would refuse a sweet little box of chocolates…especially when Wrigley’s™ Big Red® cinnamon gum is our favorite flavor?
The design of Chocolate Box began with a simple schematic of the treats as they would sit in a box. The size of the 5-stick gum pack, a balanced presentation of the chocolates, and margin for their paper cups all influenced the final size. To create the box, different papers were first tested for flexibility, fit, and sturdiness. Then templates were created for the top and bottom box trays. Trays were measured, trimmed out, folded and glued. Cake foil was fitted and adhered to each tray to create a classic sweets box look. For the chocolate inserts, card stock forms in several sizes and shapes were tested and finessed. Light and dark “chocolate” felt was wrapped and glued on each form, then trimmed using a variety of ribbons and floss to simulate icing. Paper trays for each treat were created by scoring and folding art paper, then gluing short strips to a base. Thin red ribbon secured each completed box. It was a delight to fill each box with these life-size treats and see the original schematic come alive in these crafted pieces.
