2011 Love Glove

How to house the treat is the first consideration with a new Rebecca Valentine.

Our Wrigley’s™ Big Red® 15-stick Slim Pack™ is no slim-fit for a pocket, but it sits perfectly in a palm. This inspired Love Glove, a “handy” vehicle to deliver the gum and also hide it, allowing the glove to function as a playful piece on its own. Patterns for the glove were tested as prototypes and adjusted to improve the fill and ensure the snug fit of the gum in the inner palm. Endless options of fabric patterns, as well as colored felts both muted and bright, inspired an expansive palette for this valentine. Finger and hand pieces were traced and cut. Stitching was done by hand. Finger by finger, the gloves took shape. Fiberfill added dimension to the fingers and palms, and stitching articulated the fingers. With small patches of Velcro on the fingertips and palms, the fingers could be secured in a bent position: Love Glove was posable for a variety of expressions. The fabrics and color personality of the final valentines were favorite aspects of this project. Each given valentine felt truly “fit” to its recipient.
